All contests sanctioned by the IPBA are governed by international professional boxing standards. A standard professional bout consists of 4, 6, 8, 10, or 12 scheduled rounds. Each round is exactly three minutes in duration for male boxers and two minutes for female boxers, separated by a one-minute rest interval.
Three ringside judges score each completed round independently. The winner of the round must receive 10 points, while the opponent receives 9 points or fewer depending on knockdowns, dominance, and foul penalties.
One boxer edges the round with clean punches and effective aggression (no knockdowns).
One boxer scores a legitimate knockdown or utterly overwhelms the opponent.
